2012 02 13 Monday February 13 -- afternoon update

Post date: Feb 13, 2012 10:48:09 PM

Martha has continued not being alert today. (She will open her eyes when you speak to her but rarely if ever replies.) This morning's CT scan was normal.

Dr. Krisht came by this afternoon and ordered some changes to try to help turn things around. Because she cannot eat effectively, they are increasing her IV fluids. Her right arm continues to be somewhat swollen, though not nearly as much as late last week. They are going to run some venous dopplers on her arms and legs to look for undetected clots. Her blood counts are a bit off. They did an EEG to look for any signs of seizures. I didn't ask when we would hear back from any of the new tests, however I don't think there's any chance of a release to rehab tomorrow.

So please keep her in your prayers! This continues to be a long, slow process.

Here at home, Amanda and I visited with her doctor again today, and we are going to (carefully!) try another new medicine. (Can anyone suggest a craft project that uses lots of medicine bottles?) ;-) Her doctor's office is monitoring her situation a bit more closely to help get things under control. Amanda hopes to quickly get to where she can get some exercise, too, as it's not good to be as still as she has been. We are hopeful! Thank you for your continued prayers.
