We just called and spoke to Martha's nurse and to Martha, herself. She sounds much more oriented, though weak. She tells Amanda that she is working very hard to gain some weight so she can get back to Conway. Physical therapy had her up all morning, and she walked in the hall, so she has every reason to be tired. The nurse says she ate much of her breakfast. She still has some swelling in her right arm, but the nurse said her general condition and orientation has been reasonably good for someone confined so long.

The nurse said their goal is to get her transferred to Conway today, though the case manager was still reviewing her situation. I asked her to please let us know when the decision happens. We will try not to put out another "false alarm," but when she transfers it will be to Salem Place Rehab. (I know them very well there, so we feel confident it will be a good place for her to work up to more intense rehab.)

Amanda is still having trouble today, but today she conferred with her nurse, who conferred with her doctor, and they have decided she still needs to get a lot of sleep. (Last night's intense thunderstorm was a bit hard to sleep through!) We are treating her symptoms and will try to get her up and out some, too. It's a tough balance, but we are still hopeful that she will be better soon.

Thank you to everyone for your prayers and messages!
