2012 02 09 Thursday February 9 -- Morning update

[Edit: I just fixed the headline so it shows the right day of the week. Ooops!]

Apparently things are going fairly well with Martha -- her day-shift nurse tells me she has been awake, alert, and mostly oriented. They are still trying to get the blood pressure regulated, and she still isn't eating enough. We know a special church visitor will be there around lunch time to help encourage her to eat!

The day nurse corroborated the rumor that Martha is nearly ready for release from the ICU. The delay is in getting her blood pressure regulated. She may spend a day in a step-down room on the 5th floor, or released directly to rehab in Conway. Either way, there will be at least one transition coming really soon. We will try to post a notice on the web site and/or call her church as soon as we know.

On the home front, Amanda had a really good long nights' sleep. The good news is she finds that she can completely control her symptoms without medication... the bad news is that to do that she has to be lying down, away from phones or email. We've also kept the house quiet, so we don't have the news playing on the radio as we usually do. We were out this morning for a previously-scheduled fasting blood test at her doctor's office, and she was already weak and then was even more worn out by the time we got back home. Her appetite has been good, but she gets too tired from being up, so she may still be losing weight. It will obviously be awhile before she gets stronger.

Thank you to everyone for your prayers and notes of encouragement!
